I'm just another soccer fan that happens to enjoy viewing the game this way, I'm sure some of you do as well.

Peru vs New Zealand was a 2-0 win for Peru. A game with a lot of interesting moments, Farfan playing amazing, and both teams going at it!

Stratego! - Veltmander vs Petrosian | The Chess Games Of Tigran Petrosian

Opening: Nimzo-Indian Defense
Title: Stratego! - Veltmander vs Petrosian | The Chess Games Of Tigran Petrosian

Another great player of the past, and one of my favorites of all time: the Armenian grandmaster and World Champion Tigran Petrosian. Petrosian was born in 1929. He played the Candidates 8 times and was World Champion from 1963 to 1969. His nickname was Iron Tigran due to his impenetrable defense. But Petrosian was not only a great defender, he was a master of maneuvering and one of the best endgame players of all times.

Hello Chess Friends and Welcome to the Channel. In today's video a fantastic Nimzo-Indian played by Tigran Petrosian agains the strong russian player Veltmander. The year is 1951, Petrosian is only 22 years old but he already plays with an incredible precision. Let's get started.

1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 {attacking and pinning the Knight is the
Nimzo-Indian} 4. Qc2 {the Classical Variation. The idea is to avoid doubled
pawns on the c-file. The Queen is also controlling the e4 square BUT now d4 is
unprotected} O-O 5. a3 Bxc3+ {is the main line} 6. Qxc3 {d4 is again under
control but white lost control of e4. Black lost the bishop pair but white
lost time with a3 and the queen moves. The queen can also be harassed with Ne4}
b6 {to activate the bishop in fianchetto} 7. Nf3 Bb7 8. g3 {with the idea to
oppose the bishop on b7 with his own fianchetto} a5 {and there is a problem to
face for white. The next pawn push a4 will transform the b2 pawn in a backward
pawn} 9. b3 (9. b4 {would be a mistake. It's not a good idea to open the game
for white who is still undeveloped} axb4 10. axb4 Ne4 11. Qb2 Rxa1 12. Qxa1 Nc6
13. Qb2 Nd6 {the c-pawn can't be protected and must advance} 14. c5 (14. e3
Nxd4 15. Qxd4 Bxf3 16. Rg1 {with a winning position for black}) 14... Nb5 {
with Black that will win one pawn and is a bit better even if white has the
bishop pair}) 9... d6 10. Bg2 Nbd7 11. O-O Qe8 {this is a usual Petrosian move
that is waiting as long as possible to play the thematic move Ne4. He is
waiting because white, when planning his moves must always keep in mind this
black's possibility. It's a sort of psichological pressure} 12. Bb2 Ne4 13. Qc2
f5 14. Rad1 Ndf6 15. Ne1 Ng4 {preventing f3} 16. Bc1 {controlling e3} (16. f3
Ne3 17. Qc1 Nxd1 18. Qxd1 Nf6 {with a winning advantage}) 16... Qh5 {
threatening checkmate in 1} 17. h3 Ngf6 18. Nd3 c5 19. dxc5 bxc5 20. Kh2 {
Black can draw the game because white will be happy to allow the repetition} e5
(20... Ng4+ 21. Kg1 Ngf6 {and so on. But the position is rich and Black is
fine. Petrosian continues with}) 21. f3 Ng5 22. Nf2 Rad8 {better to protect
the central pawn, leaving the a-pawn to his fate} 23. Bd2 a4 24. bxa4 Ne6 25.
Rb1 Nd4 26. Qd1 Qf7 27. e3 Ne6 28. Qc2 {is a mistake and a missed opportunity
to find a plan. Black's weakness is on the dark squares because Petrosian is
without the dark bishop} (28. Ba5 Rd7 29. Rb6 {ddefending this pawn with Qe7
is passive. Black must find active counterplay with Ra8 or Ng5 or f4}) 28... f4
29. exf4 exf4 30. g4 {best idea} (30. gxf4 Nd4 31. Qd1 {white will fall apart})
30... Nd4 31. Qd3 Ba6 32. Rb5 {that gives away the exchange for connected
passed pawns on the queenside. But Petrosian is in no hurry to take the
exchange. He improves his Knight} (32. Rfc1 d5 {because some material will be
lost Veltmander has an idea}) 32... Nd7 33. Re1 Ne5 {Qc3 is the best defensive
move but white is now desperate} 34. Rxe5 Bxb5 {the only inaccurancy in
Petrosian play. dxe5 must be played first} 35. axb5 (35. Rh5 g6 36. Rxh7 Kxh7
37. axb5 {that is still winning for Black more complex}) 35... dxe5 36. Qc3 Ra8
37. Bf1 Ra4 38. Ne4 Rfa8 39. Bc1 Qa7 40. h4 Rxa3 {begins to simplify} 41. Bxa3
Qxa3 42. Qxa3 Rxa3 43. Nxc5 Nxf3+ {and in this position white resigns. It's
minus 5. Let's make some other moves} 44. Kg2 {is the best idea} (44. Kh3 {
is a bad move} Ne1+ 45. Kh2 Ra2+ 46. Kh3 Rf2 {and the bishop is trapped} 47.
Bd3 Nxd3 48. Nxd3 Rf3+) 44... Nxh4+ 45. Kg1 Nf3+ 46. Kf2 Ng5 47. b6 Ra2+ 48.
Ke1 Rb2 {behind the passed pawn} 49. b7 e4 50. Kd1 e3 51. Kc1 Rb6 52. Bd3 (52.
Kc2 f3 53. Kd3 e2 {and the bishop is trapped}) 52... f3 53. Kd1 Nh3 54. Ke1 Nf4
55. Be4 Ng2+ {is game over} 56. Kd1 e2+ {the pawn will promote.} 0-1

A fantastic game played by a young Petrosian that if we pay attention can teach us many many strategic ideas. I hope that you enjoyed the game and if you did, pelase don't forget to like the video and to subscribe to the channel.
