10 Sports Accidents Caught On Camera

Charlie from #Top10s counts down the top 10 most embarrassing sports photos. Cheerleaders are known for their aesthetic poses and incredibly flexibility. However these can backfire, just like on this cheerleader. This cheerleader at a basketball game apparently didn’t realise that her costume is white, which turns transparent when wet. This photo looks like it’s taken straight out of an anxiety dream. But unfortunately, for the woman, it’s not. This photo was taken at a tennis match where a female player’s underwear fell down as she was playing. Don’t freak out… Ok, freak out but not too much, as the brown stuff around the shoes is vomit, not fecal matter. However, by the looks of the bystanders, they likely thought that this runner had some toilet trouble when running. In this funny photo, a jockey’s pants have fallen down, causing him to moon the whole track. But unfortunately for him, he didn’t just moon the track, but millions of viewers on television. This water volley ball player looks like she got a bit too into the game, as one of her breasts came right out of her swim suit! Unfortunately, a questionable sports photographer captured the event for all to see. In this soccer match in the UK, a player desperately tries to chase an opposing player to tackle him. He then found himself falling over and instinctively grabbed the players shorts. It looks like this Japanese hurdler didn’t quite make the jump. And when I say didn’t quite make it, I mean he missed it completely. In this unfortunately timed photo, 2 soccer players are warming up before a match. The players training made it look like they were doing something very inappropriate! Wrestlers can sometimes get into bizarre and inappropriate-looking positions when fighting. This photo is an example of one of these positions. In this rugby match, a player tries to get the ball from an opponent. However, he ended up grabbing the player’s shorts instead of the ball. #sports

5 - Association Football (Soccer)
Here in the United States, it's soccer, everywhere else in the world, it's Football and the big leagues, the world cups, are Association Football. This high-intensity game involves lots and lots of leg strength, running for 90 minutes while moving a ball with only your feet and avoiding getting tackled at the same time is no easy feat and accidents are plentiful on those grassy knolls. There's no protective gear short of the occasional knee pad. These players are known to do anything to win with ruthless defensive strategies, the studs-up challenge is a tackle where a player attacks with the studs on the bottom of their cleats and aerial body checking is exactly what it sounds like. Concussions, bruises, bloodied limbs, torn ACLs, shin splints and sudden cardiac arrests are some of the most common and frequent of injuries associated with this treacherous game. Along with the occasional soccer riot, which have reduced whole stadiums to rubble, but this usually only happens during world cup matches.

4 - Rugby
13 burly hardened players on opposing teams literally smashing and pummeling into each other whilst kicking and catching a ball to opposing ends for a gruelling 80 minutes describes this highly athletic and sometimes vicious sport. A mouth guard and spiked boots are the only safety elements allowed in this treacherous field game. Tackles come in all shapes and sizes and reduce many players to quivering shaking fetal position. There are shoulder barging, body checking and the lifting tackle just to name a few sinister totally legal tackle some moves. Concussions, torn ligaments, dislocated shoulders and even quadriplegia are common injuries found inside this high-stakes game. Riots sometimes break out when a home team loses which can quickly turn into full city bloodbaths is a relatively common practice for this high-risk sport.

3 - Bull Riding
This rodeo sport wherein a rider mounts a large bull and tries his best to stay on as the steer jerks and bucks is considered a favorite for most cowboy enthusiasts. Just falling off the angry creature can cause all kinds of severe injuries such as scrapes, scratches and concussions. The bull itself which typically weighs around 1800 pounds may also trample the fallen cowboy or rush in with pointed horns and actually pierce or stab the fallen rodeo hero. No safety equipment short of a rodeo clown and vest sewn together with ballistic material greatly increases the danger level. Many call this dare devil pastime the most dangerous eight seconds in sports.

2 - Car Racing
With race cars speeding down asphalt roads or sandy dunes at well over 150 miles per hour accidents are almost a guarantee. Car technology may have improved over the years but so has the intensity of the drivers wishing to wins and the depths they are willing to go to make their cars the fastest on the road. Hurling down black racetracks at an average speed of 175 miles per hour in a carbon fiber box while trying not to crash into the other impending cars all also travelling at frighteningly high levels of speed is ridiculously dangerous. Common injuries with this high speed intensive sport include smashed bones, excessive blood loss, trauma to the head and all degrees of burns.

1 - Motorcycle Racing
Let's face it, racing can be dangerous for even the most experienced and knowledgeable of drivers, there are many kinds of racing, we've touched on the high stakes game of racecar driving, so now let's turn up the danger knob and move on to Motorbike racing. The average speed for the crotch rocket as it speeds down asphalt typically ranges from 130 to 200 miles per hour. One of the most infamous of tracks in the motorcycle racing game and also one of the oldest races in this sports history is called the Isle of Man, where thousands of brave hardened riders descend for the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. Six brutal days of hardcore non-stop racing down a 37-mile journey with 250 sharpened corners. Broken bones, bubbling melted flesh, torn limbs, smashed skulls, these are just a few of the minor injuries associated with this intensively dangerous but super fun to watch sport.

Inspired by Muay Thai Pro's excellent article - legendary fighters go to war in one of the first Muay Thai vs. Kickboxing bouts. This fight had significant impact on North American Kickboxing and Muay Thai. Duke Roufus was deeply influenced by this bout! Enjoy.

I realize that this may make some people question Duke Roufus -- it shouldn't! Carl Sagan said it much better than I can, and Duke is truly a scientist.

In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion - Carl Sagan

Calcio Storico Fiorentino 2016, ROSSI vs AZZURRI, Florence, Tuscany, Italy, Europe

Calcio fiorentino is an early form of football that originated in 16th century Italy. Once widely played, the sport is thought to have originated in the Piazza Santa Croce in Florence. Here it became known as the giuoco del calcio fiorentino or simply calcio; which is now also the name for association football in the Italian language. The game may have started as a revival of the Roman sport of harpastum. Calcio was reserved for rich aristocrats who played every night between Epiphany and Lent. Even Popes, such as Clement VII, Leo XI and Urban VIII were known to play the sport in Vatican City. The games were known to get violent as teams vied with each other to score goals. This game was probably played already in the 15th century, so much that some matches were organized on a completely frozen-over Arno river in 1490. In a historically famous occasion, the city of Florence held a match on February 17, 1530 in defiance of the imperial troops sent by Charles V, as the city was under siege. In 1574 Henry III of France attended a game of bridge fighting put on in his honor during a visit to Venice; the king is recorded as saying: Too small to be a real war and too cruel to be a game. The official rules of calcio were published for the first time in 1580 by Giovanni de' Bardi, a Florentine count. The game is played on a field of sand with a narrow slit constituting the goal, running the width of each end. Each team comprises 27 players who are allowed to use both feet and hands to pass and control the ball. Goals are scored by throwing the ball over into the netting at the end of the field. There is a main referee, six linesmen and a field master. Each match is played out for 50 minutes with the winner being the team with the most goals scored. Interest in Calcio waned in the early 17th century. However, in 1930 it was reorganized as a game in Kingdom of Italy, under Mussolini. After playing each other in two opening games, the two overall winners go into the final which occurs each year on June 24; this is San Giovanni (St. John's Day), the Patron Saint of Florence. The modern version of calcio allows tactics such as head-butting, punching, elbowing, and choking but sucker punches and kicks to the head are banned. It is also prohibited for more than one player to attack an opponent. Any violation leads to being thrown out of the game. Matches last 50 minutes and are played on a field covered in sand, twice as long as it is wide ( approximately 80x40 meters ). A white line divides the field into two identical squares, and a goal net runs the width of each end. Each team has 27 players and no substitutions are allowed for injured or expelled players. The teams are made up of four Datori indietro (goalkeepers), 3 Datori innanzi (fullbacks), 5 Sconciatori (halfbacks), 15 Innanzi o Corridori (forwards). The Captain and Standard Bearer's tent sits at the center of the goal net. They do not actively participate in the game, but can organize their teams and sometimes act as referees, mainly to calm down their players or to stop fights. The Referee and his six linesmen referee the match in collaboration with the Judge Commissioner, who remains off the field. The referee, above everyone else, is the Master of the Field. He makes sure the games runs smoothly, stepping into the field only to maintain discipline and reestablish order in case of a fight on the field. The game starts when the Pallaio throws the ball towards the center line, then at the first whistle, 15 forwards or Corridori begin fighting - punching, kicking, tripping, hacking, tackling, and wrestling with each other in the brutal and often savage contests designed to an effort to tire the opponents out and punch, kick, or strike a hole in the opposition defenses, but which often descends into an all-out brawl. Then followed by a small cannon firing; the shot announces the beginning of the contest. From this moment on, the players try by any means necessary to get the ball into the opponents' goal also called caccia. The teams change sides with every caccia or goal scored. It's important to shoot with precision, because every time a player throws or kicks the ball above the net, the opposing team is awarded with half a caccia. The game ends after 50 minutes and the team which scored the most cacce wins. The prize is also interesting, because along with the Palio, the winning team used to receive a Chianina, a type of cow. However, the prize has been reduced to a free dinner for the winning team; the players earn no other compensation.

Top 9 "Must Haves" For Kids In Sports To Be Successful

Top 9 Must Haves For Kids In Sports To Be Successful

As parents and coaches there are some simple, but critical things you can do for your kids in sports that will make a huge difference in their happiness and success in playing their sport.

1. Encouragement
I put encouragement first, because this is by far the most important need of any kids in sports. The problems start when parents and coaches give praise only after good performances and call that encouragement. All that does is give the child the idea that your acceptance and approval is dependent on a good performance. What parents need to do is simply express their joy and excitement about watching their athlete play their sport.
2. It's NOT about the winning
First question to ask yourself is, why do you want your kid to play sports? Most parents and coaches agree it is for them to have fun and build life skills. Your kids can accomplish these two things whether they win or not.
3. Good nutrition
Your kids are out there moving their body and sweating. It is extremely important to keep them hydrated with water, not those florescent sports drinks. Also avoiding sugary snacks that spike their blood sugar then bring them crashing down.
4. Sleep well
It's very easy for parents of kids playing sports to ignore this, because there is only so many hours in a day and they also have homework, family chores, etc. They need wind down time at night and a regular bedtime schedule.
5. Acceptance among peers
This is a biggie. While you can't make all of your kid's friends like him, you CAN check in to find out how he is fitting in with his team or group. Bullying is also prevalent in youth sports and there should be a no tolerance policy on your kids team. It is a big reason why kids quit sports.
6. Respect their opinion
Just because you played or know something about your kid's sport, does not mean YOU know the best way to help him become a better player. You know you are on the wrong track with helping your kid, when you think to yourself Well, it worked for me.

In my free ebook, The 10 Commandments For A Great Sports Parent, I teach parents a number of effective ways to giving advice. It starts with asking permission and respecting no. If you go past that, you are only hurting your relationship and ultimately his confidence and performance.
7. To be taught and shown physical skills
There are approximately 3 million youth sports coaches out there and less than 20% of coaches have any training to be a coach. 85% of all coaches are the parent of one of the players. In other words, do not assume they are getting good skill instruction. It's up to you to make sure this is happening.

Take a keen interest in what your child is learning by asking them about their latest skill. Really be present in these conversations and ask open-ended questions to keep it going. When some kids get the personal instruction and others don't, it creates a formula for destroying confidence.
8. To have mental skills modeled and explained
My definition of mental toughness is when you are focused, confident, determined, and resilient...especially under pressure. We have an 8-step program in our Mental Toughness Academy to help your child develop these mental skills.

It's your job though to model them. For example, if you want your child to learn sportsmanship, you'd better be a great sport from the stands by clapping at appropriate times for the other competitors and keeping quiet when there are bad officials calls.
If you want your kid to be calm under pressure, show him how to do that at home.
This is the most powerful way that kids learn anything.
9. Advocate for them
Most youth sports programs are well run. Most coaches are well intentioned. Unfortunately, sometimes things fall apart and it is the parent's job to step in or pull the plug when the young athlete's sports participation is tilting to the negative. Always remember, when approaching the coach, to present your concerns with the utmost respect for another human being who is doing their best. A fabulous technique that I've taught parents in confronting a coach or director is to use the feedback sandwich. This means, you start out the conversation with praise, followed by your concern, and finishing up with more praise.
