Shogi for chess players - How to play and a first grudge match!

A video by chess GM Matthew Sadler and WIM Natasha Regan on their latest obsession: the Japanese game of shogi, which was another of the classic games mastered by AlphaZero after just 12 hours of training. Matthew and Natasha explain the rules of shogi and then play a first grudge match to demonstrate how the rules work and some basic strategy!

Belarusian Open Shogi Championship Final 2019. Day 1

The live broadcast of the 1st day of the Belarusian Open Shogi Championship FINAL TOURNAMENT 2019 from Ginkammuri shogi dojo in Minsk. 80 players from 3 counties took part in the main competition this year. The best 6 players will determine the champion in the two-round-robin tournament during 3 days.

3rd Magister Match: Game 1

Sergey Korchitsky (4 Dan) and Maxim Shaporov (4 Dan) play the 1st game of the 3rd Magister Match in the Minsk shogi club Ginkammuri.

This year 16 players took part in the 3rd Minsk Shogi Classic, a three-stage competition. According to the results of the decisive knockout games, the winner became Maxim Shaporov, who challenges the title holder Sergey Korchitsky. Two players determine the Magister in the best-of-three match.

Time format: 120 min + 60 sec byoyomi

Young Generals Cup 2017

The biggest European youth shogi tournament (U-18) was held on 20-21 May 2017 in Minsk. This year professional players Yuuji Masuda (6 Dan) and Shinnya Yamamoto (6 Dan) attended the event.
