This has become a popular and regular feature of The Gadget Show Live event. Robo Challenge have a fantastic 'robot wars' arena that includes 'a pit of doom'.
This is one of the best UK venues and people get a chance to watch the games as well as see and meet the designers, engineers and drivers. The repairs being performed in an open area for all supporters and fans to see. These are Feather Weight or in some cases Beetle Weight Robots. Lighter, but faster and just as deadly as the ones seen on the popular TV show Robot Wars and BattleBots.

Captain Jack Spinnah V Graffiti Robodogo 17.3.19 Combat robots, Robotwars, Battlebots.

Fight 3 - Graffiti (wedge with broken lifter)
Nerves had settled now and I felt ready for a win, was going to make sure to leave the weapon on more and see what happened.
Because they had lost there lifter mechanism earlier in the day it freed some weight up for them. So they used this to bump up there armour. I think they put a 3mm alu plate on the front and some 20mm HDPE on the top. So I knew it wouldn’t be easy one.
My first hit took off the Alu plate which I was happy with. He was also on me like a rash so I needed to get away to get a bit of spin up, what I noticed allot in this fight is when I turn my bot I lose speed in my weapon. I imagine this is due to friction caused by gyro so will look into sorting that.
Got a few good hits in which he took well on that HDPE he put on.
Mid fight I blew up and ejected one of my weapon tension bearings so was running on one belt again but 1 was enough it seemed because towards the end I got a big hit in that lifted his whole top panel up and almost off and loosened his link. Bit more driving around and another couple of tickles from the bar and his link came out and he was KO. But... with only 5 seconds remaining of the fight the count down didn’t Finnish and it went to the judges who gave it to Graffiti based on aggression. My drive was doing it’s strange thing still and wasn’t going forward when I wanted to too which made me look a bit more reserved I guess. And also driving away for a spin up etc.
