Weapons of Runa Glima

These are the weapons of Runa Glima (excluding the knife), all hand made by the practitioners themselves.

The first weapon shown is the single ringed stick, then two ringed stick and the three ringed stick. Lastly, the runastaf. All the markings on the weapons are used to guide the practitioner on how to hold a weapon to produce the most effective movements that create the most powerful strikes. Striking with the ulna bone foremost is the prefered method as human anatomy provides a powerful strike using this way. The line down each stick represents the weak movements of the body (related to the radius bone). The rings are areas of balance within each weapon. Once the practitioner is instinctivly aware of these parts of the weapon, they can be free to create their own runastaf.

The notches on the ends help focus the force of strikes.
