2010 Leuven Open Backgammon: final

After six rounds of seven point matches, Henri Pollet and Patrick De Wilde both had won 5. This is the grand final of the tournament. It was projected on a big screen where everyone could watch and kibitz. The time control is bronstein system, with 12 minutes in the bank and 12 seconds per move. Henri Pollet is on the left, and Patrick De Wilde on the right.

Paulus van Rooijen, the Dutch champion, reached the final because he won all five previous rounds (swiss system). Michel Lamote, number one on the Belgian rating list, fought his way here via a play-off against Luc Palmans.

2013 Leuven Open Backgammon. Hypergammon play-off for place in final. Octopussy-style ending.

Patrick De Wilde on the left and Rudy Bertels on the right play one hypergammon game to decide who will join Sassan Kachanian in the final. The clock uses Bronstein system, with 12 seconds per move and 1 minute bank time.
Hypergammon is like normal backgammon, but starting with only three checkers each.
