The Colorado Trail Race: A Self-Powered Adventure

Every July, a small group of bikepackers lines up for the backcountry race of a lifetime. This is a film about the Colorado Trail and the people who choose to race it non-stop and self-supported on mountain bikes.

The Colorado Trail Race is a 530-mile ultra-endurance bikepacking race along the Colorado Trail, which stretches from the outskirts of Denver to the small town of Durango. The route is primarily singletrack, with several Wilderness detours that add some dirt roads and pavement. With about 75,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain, much of which is above 10,000 feet, the trail is demanding, taking anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks for racers to complete.

More info about the race: climbingdreams.net/ctr/

Filmed and edited by Aaron Johnson. ajphoto.net

Please donate to the Colorado Trail Foundation - they do an amazing job of maintaining the trail and enabling these experiences in places we could not otherwise reach. coloradotrail.org/

The Mission Adventure Race 2018 | DINO

Ryan Clayton Films:

Contact me if you are a Race Director or Athlete that wants their race documented!

The MISSION is Indiana's longest-running annual adventure race, one of the region's most competitive and challenging. DINO has produced the popular MISSION Adventure Race, typically in southeastern Indiana, since 2003.

The MISSION Lite offers beginner adventure racers a chance to see what it's all about. A shorter, 4-hour cutoff; less complex navigation; and reduced gear list allow an introductory taste of AR.

Participants travel by foot, bicycle, and canoe in teams (or in the Solo division), using map and compass to find checkpoints. Each team must stay together the entire race. Along the way, they will encounter various natural and manmade challenges that test physical and mental ability and creativity.

For those up to the challenge, a solo division is offered.

The course is designed to keep most participants going all 18 hours, creating a dramatic finish line setting where family and friends can cheer for their team as they emerge from the darkness.
