Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

The World 10K Bangalore Marathon

The World 10K Bangalore (known as the TCS World 10K for sponsorship reasons by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)) is an annual 10 kilometres road running competition which takes place in Bangalore, India.[1] The competition was first held in 2008 and usually takes place in late May. The first three editions were sponsored by Sunfeast (ITC Limited).

The race, which is certified by AIMS-certified,[2] begins and ends at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, after looping through the roads of Bangalore. The different race categories at the event are – World 10K (participation restricted to International and National athletes), Open 10K (participation open to amateur runners), Majja Run (a 5.7 Km run meant for fun runners), Senior Citizens’ Run (a 4.2 Km run for Senior Citizens, and the Champions with Disability event (a 4.2 Km event for persons with disability). In addition to this there also is a 10 Km Corporate Champions category in which companies can field a team of 3 members and compete to achieve the best aggregate time.

The event is organised by Procam International, a sport and leisure management firm which is also responsible for the Mumbai Marathon and Delhi Half Marathon. There is a total prize pot of US$170,000 and race winners receive over $21,000 for their victories.[3] Further significant prizes are offered to the best Indian competitors and teams.[4]

The race is directed by former British runner Hugh Jones. A total of 23,000 runners participated in the various events that took place at the 2008 edition.[5] The current men's course record is held by World Half Marathon champion Geoffery Kipsang Kamworor with a time of 0:27:44. Geoffery Kamworor set this new course record in the 2014 edition bettering Zersenay Tadese time of 27:51 set in the inaugural year of the event. The 2014 edition also saw a new course record in the Women’s category, set by Lucy Kabu in a time of 0:31:48. This was 10 seconds better than the previous best by Wude Ayalew set in 2010.

10k Training Run - Goal: Sub 38 Minutes - GoPro | Chris PT

Sub 38 minute 10k running first person view with some talk throughout. Moderately hilly 10km road run, sub 4 min km pace, wearing GoPro Hero 4 (Silver) on head strap mount... in light rain. Average 1km split: just over 3 min 45 per km. Useful for treadmill scenery/motivation. Timed using Garmin Forerunner 10 - GPS watch. Autumn (fall) road run - Bromsgrove UK. Although my goal today was to do under 38 minutes, any kind of sub 40 minute 10k would have been ok. (Result: 37:48)
Chris PT: Now mainly sprint training (as of September 2015). Planning to share regular short updates on this and many other aspects of fitness. I've been a promoter of outdoor fitness for many years, including as a personal trainer (qualified in 2007). My other specialisms include intervals and bodyweight/dumbbell resistance workouts. Personal bests include 35 mins 08 for 10 km and 17 min 16 for 5k.

Bristol 10k Elite Race

Steadi Facilities Cameras & Vision provided a full production solution to its client for the Bristol 10k Race 2011. The brief included a number of PSC units shooting to tape to cover the event, with camera mounts including gyrostabilised helicopter mount, Steadicam and a motorbike handheld.

With some 12,000 competitors in the event, the coverage looked stunning, and the main event culminated in four lead changes in the Elite Men's race.

Editing was completed over two days with a Location Edit Suite, and available online shortly after the event itself.
